THE MARKET STREET PROJECT

A housing Estate take over, a fictional protest, a co-created journey. Georgina led a 6 month creative process with a team of 15 artists and 8 women.

ABOUT

Georgina, on behalf of No Ordinary Experience, led a six month co-creation process with young people around Caledonian Road, commissioned by Greater London Authority and produced by The Working Party and The Pleasance Theatre.

The process began exploring the fears and different perspectives of 15 young people from the area, mostly women, and ended with the creation of a new site specific community work.

The piece takes place in an imagined world where the young people of Caledonian Road have had enough. They want change and you are invited to a council meeting with a difference…

The performance included local voices, three locations, audio, spoken word, a documentary on knife crime, live music and a full professional, creative team.

Together, we asked the question 'what if?'. What if young people in the area had enough with how they felt they were treated and what if we all decided to work together to make a big difference.
